Utilities Usage
Municipal utilities usage for calendar year 2022: This information is presented annually in accordance with Texas House Bill 3679 to inform the public regarding municipal utility usage.
The City of Allen is a customer of natural gas, electricity and water just like any other resident or business in Allen. The City purchases natural gas from ATMOS Energy and COSERV. In calendar year 2022, the City purchased a total of 357,715 hundred cubic feet (CCF) of natural gas. The City’s largest natural gas consuming facilities are Credit Union of Texas Event Center, Don Rodenbaugh Aquatics Center, Allen Public Library, Allen Senior Recreation Center and Allen City Hall.
The City purchases electricity from Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative, COSERV, and Gexa Energy. In calendar year 2022, the City purchased a total of 31,018,923 kilowatt hours of electricity. The City’s largest electric usage categories were water pumping, street lighting, Don Rodenbaugh Aquatics Center, parks and sport field lighting, Allen Public Library, Allen Senior Recreation Center, Credit Union of Texas Event Center and the municipal complex which includes Allen City Hall, Allen Municipal Court, Allen Parks and Recreation, Allen Police Headquarters and the Municipal Annex.
The City purchases water from the Allen Water and Sewer fund in the same way as other residential or commercial customers. In calendar year 2022, the City purchased 148,439,600 gallons of water to support use in and around municipal facilities, median landscape maintenance, and parks irrigation.
In calendar year 2022, the City of Allen spent a total of $4,431,619 for natural gas, electricity and water.
