JULY 12, 2022 - The Downtown Steering Committee presented its final report to City Council during the July 12 meeting.
The Downtown Allen Revitalization Plan is the result of nearly a year of community input through workshops, events, surveys and meetings. It provides a vision, goals and an implementation plan to revitalize Allen’s downtown and turn it into the vibrant heart of the city.
Phase one of this multi-stage plan recommends the creation of a community gathering space, additional outdoor spaces and adaptive reuse of the former post office in downtown Allen. Watch the full presentation
Councilmembers thanked the citizen-led committee and consultant Stantec for their work in leading this input-driven process. Though the plan provides a framework for council reference, no specific developments or changes to Downtown Allen land use were considered by Council during the July 12 meeting.
