1. What is the Allen Police Department application process?

Selected applicants must complete written and physical agility tests. They must also complete a background check; pass an oral board and polygraph test; submit to medical screenings, drugs tests and psychological exams; and complete a final interview with the police chief and deputy chief.

2. What kind of salary/benefits does Allen Police Department offer?

Allen Police Department offers competitive salaries and benefits. The salary for police recruits is $76,138 during the academy and $79,300 upon being sworn in as an officer. Sworn officers’ salaries range from $87,180 to $102,480 within 5 years based on a step grade system.

Successful police candidates receive salary and benefits while attending the Police Academy as well as in-house TCOLE training and certification pay. Intermediate Certificate is $50 monthly, Advanced is $100 monthly and Masters is $150 monthly. All positions receive paid vacation and holidays, along with life, health and dental insurance. Longevity pay ($4 per month of service) is also provided as a yearly bonus.

The City of Allen participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System and offers a 2-to-1 match upon retirement.

Yes, incentive pay is offered as follows:

• TCOLE Certification: Intermediate ($50 per month); Advanced ($100 per month); Masters ($150 per month)
• Education Pay: Associates ($50 per month); Bachelors ($75 per month); Masters ($100 per month)
• Field Training: $100 per month
• SWAT: $100 per month
• Shift Differential: $200 per month

4. Does Allen Police offer tuition reimbursement?

The Allen Police Department does not offer tuition reimbursement. However, full-time employees are eligible for education assistance to complete a qualified degree plan following the successful completion of their probationary period.
